The D-Day Experience

Experience the D-Day Battlefield! (For the Price of a Visit to Starbucks...)

It was 75 years ago. It’s hard to conceive today. 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 Soldiers and Sailors and Airmen. Overlord was the largest air, land, and sea operation undertaken before or since June 6, 1944. After years of planning and intensive training, it would be the decisive battle that foreshadowed the end of Adolph Hitler’s Nazi empire. When the ramps opened, they carried over eighty pounds of equipment on their backs and faced over 200 yards of open beach before reaching natural cover. Blanketed by enfilading small-arms and artillery fire, they found themselves in a killing zone like no other. Still others jumped into the night, widely scattered, onto darkened, flooded drop zones illuminated only by the intense enemy fire from below.   Most of these young men were not yet 20 years old. They fought bravely, and sacrificed selflessly. When it was over, they had suffered nearly 10,000 casualties; and more than 4,000 were dead. After all of the planning and preparation, and through the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of these men, Hitler's Atlantic Wall had been breached. Less than one year later, Nazi Germany would be defeated. What are the enduring lessons we can learn from the D-Day Invasion and Battle for Normandy?  There are many.  To truly understand them, there's no substitute for walking the ground where our Soldiers fought. When you purchase a subscription for a low monthly fee, you'll gain access to videos that I film directly from the Normandy Battlefield. You'll visit the invasion beaches of Utah, Omaha, Juno, Gold and Sword, and you'll get to know the Soldiers and civilians who fought and died on our behalf.   You'll hear their stories, and learn about their decisions, and the enduring difference they made. On this 75th Anniversary of D-Day—there’s no more meaningful or poignant time to learn about this seminal event in world history.  Through this virtual experience, you will come to understand all of the values that motivated them:  loyalty, duty, respect, honor, and integrity, and what it truly means to serve selflessly and courageously.   These are the stories of impossible valor and unimaginable sacrifice: men and women who overcame adversity to liberate a continent.  Some would never return home, and today forever lay in rest on these shores. I look forward to being with you on the beaches and battlefields of Normandy. This is your ticket. My Best, John
